Community members in Westerly say they are mourning the death of a New York City woman who was struck by a vehicle while walking with her family near their summer home after Thanksgiving dinner.
Amy Mazzola Flynn was struck Thursday night on a road in the Watch Hill area of Westerly, where she was a longtime seasonal resident. Flynn, who was 48, died at the scene.
Her 11-year-old daughter was also struck, and was treated at a local hospital and released.
No charges had been announced as of Sunday against the driver who allegedly struck them.
The Westerly Sun reports that a service was held at a local church Friday night to comfort Flynn's friends and family. Her funeral is scheduled Tuesday in New York City.
Mazzola was a former vice president of JPMorgan & Co, and active with the School of American Ballet and other organizations, according to an obituary published in the New York Times.
