Amtrak from NY to Boston Canceled Until Saturday

Amtrak trains between New York City and Boston have been canceled until Saturday morning after a heavy truck struck and damaged an overhead power system, the rail company tells NBC.

Amtrak officials said they do not yet know how many trains and passengers will be affected, but says they are working on those details.

The truck stuck the overhead system near New Haven, Conn. sometime Friday afternoon. Crews are working to restore service.

There are also delays between Springfield, Mass., and New Haven, Conn. Trains continue to run normally between New York and Washington D.C.
