Alec Baldwin: I'd Rather Pay Fine Than Apologize Over Arrest in Bike Flap

Alec Baldwin is not apologizing over a confrontation with police that led to a disorderly conduct arrest earlier this year.

Baldwin told a Manhattan judge Thursday he'd rather pay a fine than apologize over the fracas that unfolded when police stopped him for riding a bicycle the wrong way down a one-way street in May.

Judge John Delury asked the actor, "Can you stay out of trouble, Alexander?"

Baldwin said, "Sure, sure." The judge gave him an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal.

Earlier the judge told Baldwin, "Looks like you have a short fuse."

Baldwin was seen riding his bike the wrong way near 16th Street in the Flatiron district, officials have said. He was  issued two summonses, one for riding his bike the wrong way and another for disorderly conduct.

After the stop, Baldwin tweeted that "New York City is a mismanaged carnival of stupidity that is desperate for revenue and anxious to criminalize behavior once thought benign."

He also tweeted that "police did nothing" when photographers nearly hit his daughter with a camera outside his home later in the day.
