Call it fairness. Call it karma. Call it Joseph Addabbo getting a run for his money.
The New York State Senator is one of eight Democrats who voted against the marriage equality bill late last year. So when he celebrated his birthday with a fundraiser in Richmon Hill, Queens on Sunday, members of the LGBT community called him out on his actions and disrupted the shindig.
Members of the direct action group Queer Rising confronted Addabbo about the substantial financial and electoral assistance he received from gay groups in 2008.
After much support, they were still disappointed when he voted against the marriage bill.
They yelled “Joe Must Go!” to a room that included the senator’s family.
NBCNewYork reached out to Senator Addabbo's office, where he was not available for comment.
