Veterinary Technician, 2 Others Arrested in Maiming of Pit Bull Puppy on Long Island

The pit bull puppy was found in September with a missing leg and missing ears

Three people are facing charges in the abuse of a puppy named Miss Harper.

The New York attorney general's office says a veterinary technician and man and a woman who owned the dog face multiple charges, including aggravated cruelty to animals.

The brown and black pup was brought to the Nassau County SPCA's attention in September. Miss Harper is missing a leg and both ears, and needs additional medical care.

Gary Rogers of the Nassau County SPCA says that, despite it all, she's "a loving, playful puppy."

He says the little pit bull is almost ready to be adopted. Applications have come from as far as Australia.

The Nassau County police union is among the donors helping with her care.
