The Nassau County SPCA is seeking help for a puppy described as a "sweet little girl" despite the pain she's endured.
The brown and black pup, named Miss Harper, is missing a leg and both ears.
She was found in September and still is in need of surgeries.
A criminal investigation is under way.
The SPCA hopes to find the little pit bull a loving home. The rescue group also is asking for help in paying her veterinary expenses.
