After a string of mishaps, a crane on 57th Street in Manhattan came down Sunday.
Crews worked through the morning to remove the boom and the rig which was being used in the construction of a luxury highrise known as One57.
Last year, the crane's boom collapsed because of strong winds during Hurricane Sandy and dangled 90 stories over the street for days, causing the block to be shut down for a week.
Last month, a replacement crane suddenly stopped working while hoisting a 13,000-pound counterweight. The block had to be evacuated and it took hours for crews to lower the weight.
The crane is owned by New York Crane and Equipment Corp., which also owned the crane that collapsed and killed two workers on the Upper East Side in 2008.
