4 Dead, 3 Hospitalized in Massive Paterson Blaze

Four people are dead and three more were hospitalized in serious condition after a fire that swept through three homes in northern New Jersey on Wednesday.

Paterson Public Safety Director Glenn Brown said authorities suspect it was an electrical fire because there were electrical-related violations in the house where the blaze began.

Deputy Fire Chief Scott MacGilvray says authorities brought in trained dogs and heavy equipment, but the search for the missing has been stymied because the rubble is not stable.

The fire began in a home at 465 East 31st Street around 2:40 a.m. and flames spread to the homes on either side.

The first home collapsed, and eleven people have been displaced
