A 17-year-old girl died and two other young friends were seriously injured on their way back from the beach when the car they were in crashed into a house Sunday night on Long Island, police say.
The driver, 19-year-old Aramis Broadus, lost control of a 2010 Nissan Maxima when it hit a telephone pole and crashed into the home on Little East Neck Road in West Babylon just before 9 p.m., police say.
Broadus and three passengers -- 18-year-old Chyna Adams, 20-year-old Robert Jones, and 17-year-old Kenya Jimenez -- were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where Jimenez died. Adams and Jones were being treated for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Broadus was treated for minor injuries and released.
The home was condemned due to extensive damage. No one in the house was injured.
Adams' mother, Eurydice Adams, told NBC 4 New York her daughter is distraught over the loss of her best friend, a classmate at Deer Park High School.
Eurydice Adams said Chyna told her that Broadus lost control when another driver cut them off. Police haven't said what caused the crash. So far there are no criminal charges.

Neighbors said speeding cars are a constant concern there.
"People don't respect the signs," said one man. "It says go 30, they go 60, 70."
