A 28-year-old woman was sexually assaulted on the street near City Hall Park in lower Manhattan early Sunday, police said.
Police say the woman's attacker followed her from the subway, grabbed her by the throat, held her down and pulled down her pants near Park Row and Beekman Street shortly before 5 a.m.
Several nearby construction workers heard the woman scream and rushed to help; the attacker fled.
The victim was taken to Beth Israel Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
The suspect is described as being in his mid-20s and was last seen wearing a red Adidas jacket over a black hooded sweatshirt.
Police released a surveillance photo (above) of a man wanted for questioning in connection with the attack.
