A 26-year-old woman was killed after she was hit by an ambulance while crossing a street in Manhattan and subsequently struck by another car, authorities said.

According to police, Samantha Lee was attempting to cross West 96th Street between Broadway and West End Avenue early Sunday morning when she was clipped by the driver's side mirror of the ambulance, causing her to fall facedown in the street and be struck by another car.

Lee, who lived nearby, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the ambulance and the other car both remained at the scene. Police are continuing to investigate the accident.
