25 Arrested in S.I. Prescription Drug Ring

Prosecutors say they've arrested 25 suspects for illegally selling prescription drugs from a bagel shop on Staten Island.

District Attorney Daniel Donovan said Sunday that the loose group of defendants included hardened criminals, former high school athletes and small business owners.

Donovan said they sold the prescription drugs from Nel-Boy Bagels in Great Kills for $20 a pill.

The Staten Island Advance reports that undercover police purchased 2,500 oxycodone, 368 Percocet and 245 Zanax pills during the sweep dubbed "Operation Bitter Pill.''

During the execution of search warrants, police also seized 300 grams of cocaine, 100 glassine bags of heroine and a small amount of marijuana.
