A family in Queens is mourning the loss of a two-year-old girl who police say was rundown by an SUV.
Police say a Toyota RAV4 hit young Shamira Zaman at 211th Street between 89th Road and 89th Avenue, in Queens Village, at about 2:20 p.m. Monday.
Emergency crews rushed the little girl to Queens General Hospital but she did not survive.
Family members were stricken with grief as they congregated in and outside the girl's home this afternoon.
The driver of the SUV was not facing criminal charges Monday night, authorities said.
