2-Taxi Crash Leaves Multiple People Injured in NYC: Officials

A two-car crash involving taxis left several people injured, including a 1-year-old boy, authorities say.

Police say a yellow cab was traveling west on 85th Street when it hit another cab traveling south on 2nd Avenue, sending it onto the sidewalk and intoa Wahlburgers restaurant with people dining outside.

A mom, her nine-year-old daughter and a one-year-old boy, who was with his father at the restaurant, were taken to an hospital to be treated. They are all expected to be OK, officials said. The boy suffered a broken leg and the other injuries are minor.

"It sounded like a bomb, the crash was extremely loud," said Barbara Norwalk, a restaurant customer. "Something happened to the baby because they had his leg wrapped."

Both drivers remained at the scene. Toxicology reports came back negative, and both drivers blamed each other.

The investigation is ongoing, but police are looking at surveillance video and measuring speed to see if they have enough evidence to ticket either driver.
