Two workers were shot inside a Staten Island bagel shop during an attempted robbery early Thursday, according to one of the deli’s owners.
Jennifer Nazir, the co-owner of Hot Bagels Deli on Arthur Kill Road in Arden Heights, said two armed men walked into the store and ordered the employees to get down just after 1:30 a.m.
One employee didn't hear the demand and was shot, she said. The other employee ran and was shot after a chase.
Customers who were walking into the store at the time saw what was happening and fled.
The workers, who are both in their 30s, are being treated for their injuries and are expected to survive.
The suspects did not take any cash or property from the 24-hour deli, but Nazir said police are reviewing surveillance footage.
