2 Arrested After NJ Officer Hit by Vehicle: Authorities

Two people are facing charges after a New Jersey officer was hit by a vehicle while on the job, authorities said Sunday.

A Dover police officer was approaching a parked vehicle Saturday afternoon after receiving a report that people were sleeping in it, when the driver of the vehicle drove it onto the sidewalk and struck the officer, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office. The officer was brought to the hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

Michael Medici, 29, of Rockaway, New Jersey, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and assault by auto. Colleen McDonough, 32, of Rockaway Township, New Jersey, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, throwing bodily fluids at a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest.

It wasn't immediately clear if the two had lawyers who could speak on their behalf.
