State and local police are investigating the discovery of human remains of a Newtown woman who went missing in 1984.
Her neighbors called her Imani. They said she loved to dance -- an activity she tragically will no longer enjoy.
Police said the 14-year-old girl was stabbed to death just before midnight Thursday by a 35-year-old man who lived with the victim, her mother and her three younger siblings.
Neighbors said they heard arguing in the Bronx apartment last night. Police confirmed the three younger children were in the home when the verbal warfare turned violent.
The 35-year-old suspect fled the scene after allegedly stabbing Imani and was later picked up more than 12 blocks away, police said.
Imani was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, but she didn't make it.
Neighbors said the suspect fathered Imani's younger siblings, but is not her biological dad. It wasn't clear what provoked the violence.
