A 14-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly trying to rape a 35-year-old jogger in a Bronx park, putting his hand over her mouth and his arm across her chest as he tried to pull her backwards off the path, authorities say.

The boy, who has not been named because of his age, was arrested at his house on Wednesday night, more than 48 hours after the 8 a.m. attack near a wooded area of Bronx River Forest Park, police said Thursday. He faces charges of attempted rape and harassment.

The woman was able to fight off her attacker and call out for help, then ran deeper into the park as she tried to escape. Then she ran into him again. That time she snapped a photo, which helped authorities track down the suspect.

The victim ran into her attacker a second time as she tried to find a way out of the park, and was able to snap a picture of him with her cellphone.

The woman was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
