Commuters on New Jersey Transit and Amtrak trains were trapped for more than two hours Thursday morning when power went out in a tunnel between New York City and Newark.
There were still minor delays ahead of the evening commute stemming from the 9 a.m. outage in the tunnel just outside of New York's Penn Station.
One NJ Transit passenger, Richard Ram, live-tweeted the entire episode, starting with a message that he was "trapped ... in the tunnel under the hudson."
Later, he posted about people getting "restless," and a passenger "having a panic attack."
"Not moving. No estimated time of rescue," he tweeted more than an hour into the ordeal.
Another NJ Transit passenger, Mitchell Grossbach, tweeted at about 10:30 a.m.: "Stuck for an hour, no air, toilets over-flowed, everyone missing work..nice."
Shortly before 11:30 a.m., Ram tweeted: "New york penn station, you never looked so good."

Amtrak says it used diesel engine equipment to take the stuck trains from the tunnel into Penn Station.
NJ Transit said it is cross-honoring tickets and passes at Newark Penn Station.
Riders with paid tickets on canceled trains are asked to contact Amtrak for refunds or rebookings. Passengers who have not yet printed their tickets can get refunds or rebookings on Amtrak.com or through Amtrak's iPhone app.
