11th Sex Attack in Brooklyn Investigated

Police are investigating another sexual assault in Park Slope, a neighborhood already on edge over a string of attacks targeting young women in the area.

The victim in the latest case, a 29-year-old woman, told police she exited the Prospect Avenue subway station shortly at about 9 p.m. Wednesday and was followed by a man.

She was walking between 4th and 5th avenues when the man sneaked up behind her and grabbed at her, police said.

The woman screamed, prompting her attacker to run away.

This is the 11th sexual attack being investigated in the adjacent Park Slope, Sunset Park and Greenwood Heights sections of Brooklyn.

At a safety meeting Tuesday, police from the 72nd Precinct announced they were looking for three suspects in the 10 attacks they were investigating at the time.

Police said most of the incidents occurred between 8:30 p.m. and 4 a.m., usually on a Friday or Saturday. Most of the victims were petite women between the ages of 21 and 32.

A separate attempted rape was reported in Brooklyn Thursday, but police said it was not part of the pattern linking the other 11 attacks.
