10-Year-Old New Jersey Boy Struck and Killed by Police Cruiser

A police cruiser responding to a call Sunday struck and killed a 10-year-old boy in New Jersey, authorities said.

The boy was crossing the street at about 8 p.m. at the intersection of Delsea Drive and Paul Street in Franklin Township when he was hit by the patrol car.

He was walking to a sleepover with two friends, his family said. His friends were not injured.

The boy's name wasn't released. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

The officer, who was unidentified, was taken to a hospital. It was not clear if he was injured.
