10-Month-Old Baby Killed in Long Island Car Crash

A 10-month-old baby was killed when she and her pregnant mother were struck by a car while crossing a road on Long Island Saturday night, authorities said.

According to police, Yancy Arevalo, 29, was pushing her daughter Britney in a stroller across Route 110 in North Amityville when they were hit by a pickup truck.

They were both taken to a hospital, where the infant later died. Arevalo suffered minor injuries, but was being held at the hospital for observation because she is pregnant, police said.

The driver of the pickup was not injured. He remained at the scene and his vehicle was impounded for safety checks.

No charges have been filed, but police are asking anyone with information about the crash to call 631-854-8152.
