If you're still debating whether to head down to Times Square for New Year's Eve, this should be the year you decide to stay in and watch it on TV.

Varying amounts of snow fell throughout the Tri-State Wednesday, and while the precipitation moved on before nightfall, it's left behind some miserably cold conditions.

Things will be windy and bone-chilling cold in the city for New Year's Eve, but still tens of thousands of revelers claimed their spots in Times Square by midday Wednesday. They should hope they wore lots and lots of layers.

That's because the temperature is expected to dip below 20 degrees Wednesday night, but by the time the ball drops at midnight, the wind chill will make it feel like zero degrees, maybe even five below.

Thursday will be cold and sunny, but that doesn't really matter. You'll be on the couch anyway, right?

Happy New Year from NBCNewYork.com!
