Turkeys Around Town

While your turkey's probably moments away from it's stint in the hot box, two turkey's are living it up, and having their own little celebration in Prospect Park Thursday. The Wildlife Conservation Society chose two lucky birds from an upstate farm to save this year, and they're currently on display at the Prospect Park Zoo.
The turkeys, named them Deborah and Madame, are with Franklin, the zoo's male turkey, who's having the greatest thanksgiving of his life! Zookeepers told the Brooklyn Paper that he's "strutting his stuff all around the turkey pen, showing off for his new roommates", which the Paper notes is "a precursor to, as we say in the newspaper business, starting a family." More turkeys for next year!
In other turkey news, one local blogger thought she saw a wild turkey in the park, but after a heated debate in the comments section of that post, readers seem to think it's either a Musocvy Duck or a seagull. That's a bummer, as I would've loved to see some last minute turkey hunting going down around New York. The word is you can still find them around Brooklyn, whether in the Greenwood cemetery, Ward's Island, Battery Park, or on the Triborough Bridge (now R.F.K.)!
