Sharpton criticized Limbaugh's "anti-NFL" talk, and comments made about Donovan McNabb and Michael Vick.

The Rev. Al Sharpton is trying to interfere with an NFL play by Rush Limbaugh, and is hoping to block the conservative radio host from buying the St. Louis Rams.

Sharpton wrote a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell requesting a meeting "to discuss the myriad of reasons as to why [Limbaugh] should not be given an opportunity" to bid for the Rams.

The letter says that Limbaugh's comments about Philadelphia Eagles' quarterback Donovan McNabb and Michael Vick (who did time for running an illegal interstate dog fighting ring) were "anti-NFL."

In 2003, Limbaugh resigned from his brief stint on ESPN's NFL pregame show after saying McNabb was overrated because the media wanted a black quarterback to succeed.

Sharpton also criticized Limbaugh for saying "the NFL was beginning to look like a fight between the Crips and the Bloods without the weapons." The Rev. said that comment "was disturbing."

Limbaugh has confirmed that he and St. Louis Blues owner Dave Checketts are teaming up to buy the football  franchise, but has not commented on Sharpton's letter.
