A Russian madam who claimed that her ring netted up to $50,000 a month with "independent" call girls like an elementary school geometry teacher, an Olympic athlete and a lingerie model was busted Tuesday, authorities said.
Naira "Sandra" Jalovian, 29, of Jersey City, was arrested this morning after an undercover agent, posing as a corrupt cop offering her protection, had secretly tape recorded her conversations for weeks, according to the criminal complaint.
In the tapes, Jalovian talks about avoiding arrest by operating her business discreetly -- by steering clear of clients who are famous men or politicians -- as well as advertising on Eros.com that her calls girls are "independents," and filing just $14,000 in income taxes by pretending to be a housekeeper.
While cautious, Jalovian also wanted to expand her ring by hiring corrupt cops to eliminate the competition, the complaint said. When the undercover asked in late April what she wanted him to do with competitors, she said allegedly "take them out."
In a conversation recorded last month, Jalovian gives the undercover $1,500 after he suggests hiring more muscle to go after her competition -- "that's so hot, let's do it," she says, according to the complaint.
Jalovian describes most of her clients as wealthy businessmen, doctors and architects who are either from the New York area or here visiting and pay "several hundred dollars or more per sexual encounter," the complaint said.
For these trysts, she rented apartments in Midtown and other Manhattan neighborhoods and regularly traveled in from her Jersey City base to collect the cash, according to the complaint.

Wearing snug-fitting pants and pink flipflps, Jalovian did not enter a plea during an initial appearance Tuesday in Brooklyn Federal Court. A magistrate denied her bail, citing a lack of family ties in this country, but left the door open to another bail application in the future.
Although prosecutors contended that she had money to rent a $3,000 a month Manhattan flat, she was given a court appointed lawyer, who had no comment.
A Russian citizen with a U.S. green card, she faces a maximum of five years in prison if convicted.
