Just call them New York's Grimiest.
An eight-months pregnant woman who crossed between subway cars while looking for a seat during Wednesday's heat wave was given a $75 ticket by the NYPD.
Nora Hsu, of Hewlett, Long Island, was riding a crowded 1 train after leaving her job in Midtown at around 3 p.m. When none of the passengers offered the visibly-pregnany Hsu a seat, she decided to check out the other cars while the train was stopped at the Times Square Station, according to the New York Post.
An officer on the platform spotted Hsu and ordered her off the train. He ignored her pleas to be easy on her since she was pregnant.
"The officer said, 'It doesn't matter,'" Hsu told to the Post. The officer wrote the summons and also spent 15 minutes checking for warrants, according to the paper.
It is illegal to cross between subway cars, except when instructed to do so by MTA employees during an emergency. Police said the MTA has reported many injuries attributed to traveling between cars.
"Moving from one subway car to another was made a summonsable offense because of the many injuries that resulted from the practice," Paul Browne, deputy commissioner of public information for the NYPD, said in a statement. "This was a legitimate summons issued as a result of those safety concerns."
