Paterson Reminds Voters of Their Rights
Identification is not required to vote, except for newly registered voters

New York Gov. David Paterson is reminding voters to be aware of their rights as Election Day approaches.
The voter bill of rights allows all registered voters to cast a ballot, including anyone who gets in line to vote by 9 p.m. They also have the right to vote free of intimidation, and to receive help with voting.
Paterson says that nearly 1 million new voters have been registered statewide since 2004, bringing the total number of voters in New York to 11.9 million.
Identification is not required to vote, except for newly registered voters who haven't had registrations validated before Election Day.
