New York Gov. David Paterson has met with Senate hopeful Caroline Kennedy to interview her for the job.
Paterson spokeswoman Erin Duggan says the two met Saturday afternoon at the governor's Manhattan office. She refused to provide any details about the meeting, and a spokesman for Kennedy did not immediately return messages seeking comment.
The governor has been meeting with a series of candidates for the Senate seat that will be vacated by Hillary Rodham Clinton if she becomes Secretary of State. He has said he won't announce Clinton's replacement until she is confirmed.
Others said to be interested in the appointment include New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi of Long Island, and Reps. Carolyn Maloney, Steve Israel, Jerrold Nadler, Kirsten Gillibrand and Brian Higgins.
