John "Junior" Gotti must be yearning for the days when Curtis Sliwa was his biggest annoyance.

The son of the Teflon Don, who is awaiting his fourth trial on a series of crimes ranging from drug trafficking to extortion, suffers from kidney stones -- which are more painful than childbirth, and so he must be freed on bail, his lawyers argued.

It's "cruel and unusual punishment" to leave Junior in a Brooklyn jail cell while he's suffering from "agonizing" kidney stones, the mob scions lawyers, Charles Carnesi and John Meringolo argued in court papers.

"It is common knowledge that the pain associated with kidney stones is worse than childbirth," the lawyers wrote in court papers filed Tuesday, according to the Daily News.

The defense has filed court papers trying to get Gotti freed on bail while he awaits a September racketeering retrial.

In a previous get-out-of-jail bid, they said the Gambino crime family heir is an educational achiever. He scored a 3.5 grade point average when he took college classes in an upstate prison.  But this time around they focused on his agonizing kidney stones.

"The government glosses over the incontrovertible fact Mr. Gotti was left to suffer the agonizing pain of kidney stones," the lawyers write. "Fortunately, the writer of the government opposition has never experienced the excruciating pain of kidney stones."
