Grateful to be alive, Patricia Machuca bares the scars and bruises left behind after a horrific crash nearly took not just her life, but those of her twin babies and her husband pictured n the photo above this past weekend.
"She said she was hurt and her two babies with another family and now she can't work and her husband either," said Janelly Jimenez.
With the help of her 10-year-old niece Janelly, Machuca told her story of survival to NBCNewYork.
"She said that she is just thankful to God that she's alive right now and she hopes that her other baby recovers fast," the mother told Jimenez.
From the looks of the wreckage, it's hard to imagine that anyone could walk away alive after police say a livery cab driver with a suspended license ran a red light slamming into a mini-van, sending that vehicle into a third one.
That third vehicle struck the 21-year-old mother and her 9-month-old infants.
Daniel was able to come home with his mother. His brother Gustavo is still in the hospital recovering from head injuries, along with his father.
"They're doing the last X-rays and they're seeing if he can come home or if he has to stay in the hospital," Muchaca told her niece.
Muchaca, of Baltimore, was in Sunset Park for a family reunion when she was standing on the sidewalk with her children in their stroller They were about to head back home to Maryland right before the accident happened.
The driver -- 57-year-old Gregorio Patino has been charged with driving with a suspended license, reckless driving and speeding.
