MTA Not Going Your Way This Weekend

Got plans this weekend? Cancel them.

The MTA has dozens of services changes scheduled this weekend because of repairs, affecting virtually every line in the system.

In fact, the only line that will not be re-routed is the M.

Shuttle buses will ferry straphangers between skipped stations on the A, E, F, G, L, 5 and Rockaway Park Shuttle lines. For more information check out the MTA's weekend advisory.

On the 7 line one, about 112,500 riders per Saturday use the 10 stations that will be closed this weekend, according to amNewYork.

A Transit Authority spokesperson blamed the weekend mess on ongoing capital construction projects, and the need to get work done before the winter.

Meanwhile, if the lack of any service at your station doesn't make you nostalgic enough, the MTA is rolling out a vintage train on the 4 line to take customers to Yankee Stadium for the playoff games against the Minnesota Twins.

The four-car train is from an era "a few years before the original Yankee stadium" opened its doors, the agency said in a statement.

The train, originally operated by the Interborough Rapid Transit (IRT) system, went into service in 1917, which makes it possible, if not probable, that these very same cars carried fans to the first opening day at the original Yankee Stadium in 1923, according to the MTA.

The four-car "Nostalgia Special" left 42nd Street-Grand Central station at about 3:45p Wednesday for game one, and at the same time on Friday October 9 for game two, making all express stops to 161st Street-Yankee Stadium.
