Harassed Reporter Won't File Charges Against Jets

Jets coaches, players had some real offensive lines

Ines Sainz, the reporter in the middle of the NFL's most recent firestorm, told me she will not file harassment charges against the Jets.

Late this afternoon, Sainz met with reporters outside the New Meadowlands Stadium to talk about Saturday's incident at the Jets practice facility in Florham Park. It was there that the Jets players and coaches allegedly embarrassed her both at practice and in the locker room.

One coach intentionally threw footballs at her -- so players could get a close look at the stunning reporter for TV Azteca of Mexico.

Then, in the locker room, players whistled at her, ogled her and hurled inappropriate comments in her direction.

Sainz told me that Jets Owner Woody Johnson called to personally apologize.

"I think the Jets are taking this very seriously and I think they are going to take some actions with the players," she said. "And I'm really concerned with what happened inside, because I think they should be focused on the game and not this kind of thing."

Sainz was at the New Meadowlands Stadium on Monday night and had a seat in the press box for Gang Green's season opener against Baltimore.

She also thanked supporters Monday on Twitter for their concern.

"I already spoke to the NFL and it will be up to them to decide whether or not there will be consequences!!" she tweeted.

Still, this could be a league issue. The NFL takes matters of personal conduct very seriously.

I interviewed league spokesman, Greg Aiello late this afternoon -- and he told me that the NFL is gathering facts and conducting it's own investigation.

"The issue is proper conduct in the workplace," said Aiello. "The locker room is a workplace."

No announcement about disciplinary action will come until a thorough review is completed, officials said.
