Bronx Cat Gets Stuck in Car Engine, Survives

Talk about an averted cat-astrophe.
The NYPD has just released photos of a very lucky cat that got itself stuck inside of an car engine in the Bronx.
Cops responded to the call Monday afternoon in front of 1910 Author Avenue in East Tremont, where the terrified tabby was stuck in the block of a 2005 Nissan Murano.
Amazingly, the driver of the Murano drove about two miles, from Marcy Place and Grand Concourse, with the poor feline in the engine, police said.
Driver Wilfredo Rodriguez, 44, said after parking he heard a rattling sound he had noticed while driving. After checking the car he saw the cat's bushy tail and right font paw sticking out of the front end of the SUV.
"I said, 'Oh my God! I killed a cat,'" he said.
Two Emergency Services Unit detectives were able to unwedge the cat by removing the vehicle's battery and other parts.
The cat, and his remaining eight lives, was handed over to New York City Animal Car and Control. A spokesman said it was in good condition.
