Caroline Kennedy probably wouldn't have had to do this much campaigning if she actually ran for Senate.

Caroline Kennedy visited Bed-Stuy over the weekend as part of her ongoing campaign to be appointed to Hillary Clinton's soon-to-be vacant Senate seat.

Kennedy met Sunday with a number of black lawmakers assembled in a storefront near Restoration Plaza on Fulton St., reported the New York Daily News

"She generally impressed everyone in the room," said Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries (D-Brooklyn). "She was very well-versed on urban issues, but more importantly showed a genuine commitment to affordable housing, black male unemployment and other issues concerning central Brooklyn."

The meeting was arranged by Sen. Eric Adams (D-Brooklyn) and included Councilman Albert Vann, Councilwoman Letitia James, Councilwoman Darlene Mealy, Assemblywoman Annette Robinson and Assemblyman Karim Camara.

"She was very attentive, very open," Adams said. "She didn't come with the position that 'I'm a president's daughter.' We had a real good conversation."

This was a return visit for Kennedy, who recalled coming to the area as a kid with her uncle Robert, who helped establish the shopping center when he was New York's junior senator.

The sit-down came a day after Kennedy met with Governor David Paterson.
