A New Yorker who already has spent nearly half his life in prison will spend the remainder of his days behind bars.

Fernando De Campoamor was sentenced to life in prison without parole on Thursday. He was convicted in the 2006 shooting of his girlfriend and her son in a dispute over a $7,000 loan

The 66-year-old De Campoamor already had received 7 years in prison for a 1961 manslaughter conviction; 6 years in 1968 for shooting his then-pregnant girlfriend; and another 18 years for a 1985 manslaughter conviction
Prosecutors said he confessed to murdering girlfriend Amelia Garcia and her son, Ferneliz Cruz. A Long Island jury deliberated for less than four hours before convicting him in October.
