Cardboard Tube Fighters Come to Brooklyn

Get your morning scoop on new street art on the Bowery, cardboard tube fighters, an iPhone app for the subway, 100 new jobs and four hours of free bike helmets in today's local blog round-up.
- The tribute to artist Keigh Haring at Bowery and Houston was whitewashed on Monday, and now it looks like the Brazilian street artists (and twins) Os Gemeos are putting up a piece in its place. [EV Grieve, Bowery Boogie]
- The Cardboard Tube Fighting League is coming to McCarren Park for an epic battle between good and evil, tube and man, purpose and insanity. This Sunday, the fighters will gather for a tournament at 12:30 pm, and of course, both cardboard armor and costumes are encouraged. [Animal]
- Despite the half-baked job market we hear the Whole Foods at West 97th street is hiring. They're looking for 100 new cooks, cashiers, drivers, bakers, and other specialty team members at the popular organic grocer. [Uptown Flavor]
- The Department of Transportation is giving away free bike helmets this Saturday at Queensbridge Park in Long Island City, from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.
