Lung Cancer: Men vs. Women

Gender matters in survival rates

A new study finds that a common form of lung cancer is more deadly for men than women.  Researchers wanted to examine how gender, race and marital status affected survival rates for patients with non operable non small cell lung cancer.

They followed more than 13 hundred patients with the disease, and found men one-point-two-three times more likely to die than women. They say gender seemed a major determining factor in survival rates.
