There is oh, so much drama about Governor's Island. Next weekend, there will be many activities recalling the island's role in the Battle of Brooklyn (no, not Park Slope vs. Williamsburg). This, in turn, is rekindling Brooklyn desire for the island itself. Well, at least for a way to get the island, which is about 400 yards offshore from Red Hook, without having to go to Manhattan to get there. Oh, Santiago, please build us your gondola. [NYT]
