WASHINGTON -- The wireless industry is boosting its capacity in anticipation of record-breaking crowds for President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration.

Those crowds likely will be wielding cell phones to call or send pictures during the Jan. 20 event, which could potentially inundate the wireless network in and around the National Mall.
The association that represents the wireless industry is warning people that some dropped calls and network difficulties will be inevitable, especially if crowds exceed projections.
To lessen the load on the network, the association suggests sending text messages rather than phone calls, and holding off sending any photos.
