After a few tense days, Rahm Emanuel is on the brink of being exonerated of any involvement in trying to sell his boss' old Senate seat.
Emanuel, slated to be Barack Obama's White House Chief of Staff, had long been an adviser and ally to Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who stands accused of trying sell Obama's vacant position.
As recent reports have noted, Blagojevich is notorious for ducking phone calls from nearly everybody -- except Emanuel.
It was believed that Emanuel tried to steer Blagojevich towards selecting longtime Obama friend Valerie Jarret to the seat. The question looming over the whole thing was, "Did Emanuel offer anything in return for Jarret's appointment?"
The answer is "No," according to ABC's George Stephanopoulos.

Emanuel had only one phone conversation with Blagojevich, described as a "pro-forma" courtesy call, after he was named Chief of Staff for Obama.
Most of the discussion concerned Emanuel's old Congressional, with only a "passing reference" to the Senate vacancy and no deal was discussed.
This can only be good news for Emanuel and Obama. Of course the people behind the investigation that will clear Emanuel work for the man who had the second-most to lose if he were guilty of anything, Obama.
