The infamous e-mail chain letter that claims the order of letters within a word do not matter as long as the first and last are correct is false (not to mention annoying as hell). The e-mail simply transposes letters that are next to one another to make them easier to read and keeps basic words unchanged.
       
    • The Obamas are redecorating the White House -- and footing the bill. Typically, new presidents are given $100,000 to make renovations to their new digs but the Obamas are not accepting public funds or donations. The couple hired Hollywood decorator Michael Smith to outfit the new space and are absorbing the cost themselves. 
       
    • The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade may not wind its way down Times Square this year. The part of Broadway in question is narrower than other streets and poses a security risk and also Bloomberg is hoping to make the area into a pedestrian plaza later this year.
       
    • Scientists are still uncertain what caused "great balls of fire" that lit up the sky over Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina yesterday -- six weeks after residents in Texas reported seeing a similar fireball in the sky.
