Rangers Trade Goalie Talbot to Oilers

The New York Rangers on Saturday traded goalie Cam Talbot, whom some say salvaged the team's 2014-15 season, to the Edmonton Oilers.

Talbot, 27, stepped up after franchise goaltender Henrik Lundqvist was sidelined with a vascular problem in his neck. In his first extended test as a starter, Talbot finished the season with a 21-9-4 record.

The Oilers traded their 57th, 79th and 184th picks in the draft for Talbot and the Rangers' 209th pick.

Later in the day, the Rangers acquired goaltender Antti Raanta in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks for forward Ryan Haggerty.

The 26-year-old Raanta was 7-4-1 with a .936 save percentage and 1.89 goals-against average in 14 games for the Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks last season.

Haggerty, 22, had 15 goals and 18 assists last season with Hartford in the American Hockey League.

Raanta is 20-9-5 in 39 career games, all with the Blackhawks. He made his NHL debut in 2013.
