Enjoy your alcoholic beverage while diluting the drink.

Holidays invite celebration and a toast to bring on the good times. But is it possible to drink your favorite alcoholic beverage the healthy way? Self magazine lists tips on how to "drink to your health" and a suggested cure for a hangover. The benefits of alcohol accrue with moderate consumption, which is one drink a day for women, according to the Self article. "We start to see an increase in health problems in women who have between one and two drinks per day," says Sharon Wilsnack, Ph.D., professor of neuroscience at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Grand Forks. Wilsnack is leading a 30 -year study of women and alcohol.

Among the tips to drink healthy, toss more ice into the glass. Don't mix it up with energy drinks because the high-caffeine beverages can make you feel less buzzed than you really are. Do have a glass of water before having a second drink to help you drink less throughout the evening. Eat fat and protein before hitting the town to slow down the absorption of the alcohol.
