Neverland is moving north a few blocks. Producers of “Peter and the Starcatcher,” the whimsical prequel to the story of Peter Pan, said today that the play will transfer to Off-Broadway’s New World Stages this spring, after it plays its final Broadway performance on Jan. 20.

Dates and casting information will be announced shortly. The original design team of “Peter and the Starcatcher” will create the New World Stages production. New World Stages, on W. 50th Street, has also hosted post-Broadway runs of “Rent” and “Avenue Q,” among others.

The fanciful play currently stars Adam Chanler-Berat, Celia Keenan-Bolger and Matthew Saldivar. It was written by Rick Elice, and co-directed by Roger Rees and Alex Timbers. “Starcatcher” began performances on March 28, 2012 at Broadway’s Brooks Atkinson Theatre, where it will have run for 320 performances at its closing.

A national tour will launch this summer in Colorado.
