Roundabout Adds ‘The Robber Bridegroom' to 50th Anniversary Season

Alfred Uhry and Robert Waldman’s musical comedy “The Robber Bridegroom” will be revived this season by the Roundabout Theatre Company, with "Bridges of Madison County” star Steven Pasquale at the lead.

Previews for the limited engagement Off Broadway production will begin at the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre on Feb. 18, 2016, with an opening night set for March 13. The production runs through May 29.

“The Robber Bridegroom” tells the story of a Mississippi bandit (Pasquale) who falls for the beautiful daughter of a wealthy planter. The work is based on a 1942 Eudora Welty novella of the same name.

The original production debuted on Broadway in 1975 starring Kevin Kline and Patti LuPone.

Tony nominee Alex Timbers (“Peter and the Starcatcher,” “Rocky”) will direct for Roundabout.
