Revival of “Titanic” Shipping to Broadway

A new production of the 1997 Tony-winning musical “Titanic” will dock on Broadway this fall, after a pre-Broadway engagement that will play Toronto’s Royal Alexandra Theatre July 22 – Aug 31.

The revival, which features music and lyrics by Maury Yeston and a book by Peter Stone, will be staged by Thom Southerland, who also staged “Titanic” as a chamber production at London’s Southwark Playhouse last year. No casting for the North American engagement has been announced at this time.

The original Broadway production ran for 804 total performances, and won five Tony awards, including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Original Score.

For those who can’t wait for the Broadway revival, you’re in luck. Most of the original cast, including Victoria Clark, Brian d’Arcy James and Michael Cerveris, will reunite on Feb. 17 at Lincoln Center for a full concert staging of the show. More information on that event can be found at lincolncenter.org.
