London's Hit ‘Harry Potter' Play Heading to Broadway in Spring of 2018

It took Britain's Olivier Awards by storm, breaking records with nine wins including best new play, and now "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" is flying across the pond to conquer its next battle: Broadway.

The "Harry Potter" sequel stage play, by Jack Thorne and directed by John Tiffany, will open at the newly renovated Lyric Theatre on Sunday, April 22, 2018.

Preview performances, casting and all further details will be announced in the coming months.

Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Thorne and Tiffany, 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" picks up years after Rowling's popular "Harry Potter" books left off. It tells the tale now of Harry as an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, husband, and father of three school-aged children — including youngest son Albus who struggles with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted.

The production is one play presented in two parts — intended by its authors to be seen in order on the same day (matinee and evening) or on two consecutive evenings.

Tickets will go on sale in the Fall via the official website only. Details of how and when tickets can be purchased will be released soon.
