Jesse Tyler Ferguson Books Broadway Return

Five-time Emmy nominee Jesse Tyler Ferguson (“Modern Family”) will return to Broadway this spring in Becky Mode’s one-man-show “Fully Committed.”

The limited engagement production begins April 2, 2016 at the Lyceum Theatre, with an official opening set for April 25. The production is currently slated to close July 24.

Ferguson, who starred in the original cast of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” will play more than 40 characters in the comedy, including its main protagonist, Sam. The play takes place at a trendy New York restaurant, where, according to its media release, “scheming socialites, name-dropping wannabes, fickle celebrities and egomaniacal bosses” collide.

“I’m beyond thrilled to be making my return to Broadway, in a piece I love so much,” Ferguson said, in a statement. “It feels like a homecoming and I know we are all going to have a ball putting this show together!"

Tony-nominated director Jason Moore (“Avenue Q”) will helm the production, returning to stage work after directing the film “Pitch Perfect” and the upcoming Tina Fey and Amy Poehler comedy “Sisters.”

This will be the first time “Fully Committed” has been seen on a Broadway stage. It premiered off-Broadway at the Vineyard Theater in 1999, before transferring to the Cherry Lane Theatre. Mode is said to be updating the piece for Broadway.
