Jane Krakowski Returning to Broadway in “She Loves Me” Revival

NBC’s “30 Rock” star Jane Krakowski will make her return to the Great White Way this season in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s revival of “She Loves Me.”

The actress, who won a Tony for her performance in the Roundabout’s 2003 revival of “Nine,” will join previously announced stars Josh Radnor (“Disgraced,” CBS's “How I Met Your Mother”) and Laura Benanti (“New York Spring Spectacular,” NBC's “Nashville”).

Performances begin Feb. 5, 2016, prior to an official March 3, 2016 opening at Studio 54. The limited engagement plays through May 22, 2016.

Tony nominee Gavin Creel, who is currently treading the boards in “The Book of Mormon,” and Tony winner René Auberjonois ("Coco") will also star.

The classic musical, which features a score by Jerry Bock (music) and Sheldon Harnick (lyrics), will be directed by Scott Ellis. He knows a thing or two about directing revivals, having helmed three revivals for Broadway last season: “You Can’t Take It With You,” “The Elephant Man” and the Roundabout's “On the Twentieth Century.”

“She Loves Me” tells the story of Georg (Radnor) and Amalia (Benanti) -- coworkers who clash at the office but accidentally fall in love with one another after anonymously exchanging romantic letters.

Sound familiar? The story, adapted by Joe Masteroff from a play by Miklos Laszlo, was the basis for the 1940 James Stewart film "The Shop Around the Corner" and the 1998 movie “You’ve Got Mail” starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.

The score features musical theater standards such as "Vanilla Ice Cream," "A Romantic Atmosphere” and "Dear Friend."

This revival of “She Loves Me” will be part of the Roundabout’s 50th anniversary season. Their 1993 production, also directed by Ellis, was the first Broadway musical production in the company’s history. It launched the Musical Theatre Program, which has gone on to produce Tony-winning revivals of “Cabaret,” “Nine,” “Assassins,” The Pajama Game” and “Anything Goes.”
